I would like to formally welcome you to Udon Thani International School (UDIS) which brings quality, international education to the people of Udon Thani.
UDIS uses a blend of the National Curriculum of England (NCE) with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) from the International Baccalaureate (IB). This provides a mix of the structure, depth and standards of individual subjects from the NCE, with the freedom of the inquiry approach which can help our learners forge understandings across all areas of their learning.
For our Year 12 and 13 classes we offer the IB’s Diploma Programme. With this curriculum we develop learners who can be world citizens with high level thinking skills that can easily continue their studies throughout the world.
UDIS offers Early Years, Primary and Middle Years classes with the Diploma Programme for students from 2 to 17 years of age in purpose-built educational facilities. We will continue adding new levels through to Year 13 (2025/2026). We have been steadily growing and improving facilities as we continue to grow.
In 2024/2025, UDIS offers twelve classes for learners which are:
UDIS maintains small classes at each level with an average class size of 13 students per class (in Term 3 2023/2024). Early Years classes are taught by a teacher, an assistant teacher and nanny. Primary and Middle Years classes are taught by a teacher and an assistant teacher. Our Diploma Programme classes are taught by teachers only. All foreign teachers are qualified and experienced international teachers from a range of countries. We believe a mix of nationalities is important to teach our international curriculum and to meet the expected needs of our diverse student base.
We are a fully accredited school with the Council of International Schools (CIS) and became the first school in the Northeast to be CIS accredited. This has been an amazing achievement by the school that affims the quality of education the school delivers.
UDIS is an IB World School having completed our curriculum accreditation with the International Baccalaureate (IB) during the 2018/2019 academic year. UDIS became a fully authorised Middle Years Programme (MYP) school in 2023. In March, 2024 the school gained full authorisation to offer the Diploma Programme (DP) for Year 12 and 13. Our Year 12 class opened in August, 2024.
We have been successful in being able to mix the IB and the NCE to create balanced learning for our students with the rigour of the NCE combined with the inquiry based learning of the IB.
Once again, welcome to UDIS! UDIS is proving to be a very successful school which continues to push the boundaries of what is possible for education in this region.
Thanks,
Dr. Lindsay Stuart
UDIS Head of School
