UDIS has become an MYP candidate school

UDIS began planning for the Middle Years (MY) programme at UDIS during the 2018/2019 academic year. One of our key aims was to secure candidacy in the International Baccalaureate’s (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP builds on the work of our Primary Years Programme (PYP) and provides the best preparation for the IB’s Diploma Programme for Years 12-13. The Diploma Programme is regarded as the best preparation for continuing university study across a range of popular destinations worldwide.

The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP is a five-year programme and students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP).

We are pleased to announce that we were granted candidacy in the MYP in December, 2019. We are now going to be able to open our MY programme in August, 2020 with this candidacy secured. We will work through the authorisation process with the IB and have set a target of becoming authorised in the 2022/2023 academic year (2 full years of implementation which is the IB’s minimum requirement).
